solar technology

A true solar showdown of portable solar technology. I ran across this information in my research for a transcontinental-Europe trip I am taking along with my long time bredren, Chapman. On this trip we will travel through all countries in continental Europe in a bio diesel van tricked out to power all our gear with mobile solar and wind technologies.

There will be all types of photos, as well as video footage, and audio podcasts on topics ranging from travel, language, cuisine, music, culture, and of course renewable energy. To find out more on this Hip to the Trip The portable solar panels will be used to power our laptops, music equipment, video and audio recording equipment.

So with no further ado...

I just came across an article about how nano flakes might just revolutionize solar energy.

Solar energy needs a new oomph like this. Too many people are talking about how it takes more energy to create a solar panel than the panel will ever generate in its life.

From Article

"The potential is unmistakeable. We can reduce the solar cell production costs because we use less of the expensive semiconducting silicium in the process due to the use of nanotechnology. At the same time, the future solar cells will exploit the solar energy better as the distance of energy transportation in the solar cell will be shorter and thus lessen the loss of energy," says Martin Aagesen who is also director of the company SunFlake Inc. that pursues development of the new solar cell.
